My Plan To Get

My Plan To Get 10x Better Over The Next 12 Months

I’ve realised recently that I have way too many fingers in rather too many pies. I have even more stuff going on now than I did when I wrote about the ten income streams that make up my freelance writing business.

I’m doing a lot of things, and I’m doing them efficiently, but as Peter Drucker puts it:

Many time management manuals will stress that it’s all about doing more things quicker, but what if they’re wrong? What if it’s really about doing more important things, better?

I’ve been on a quest to do less but better for a while, and I’ve now decided I need to say no to almost everything. However I also need to work out what to say yes to.

In some ways this is simple. I’m choosing to say yes to the things I really want to do. However I also need to make a living, so I need to say yes to things that work for me (professionally and financially speaking).

Once we write a few ebooks or produce some information products, 20% of our titles will usually claim around 80% of our sales. If our business relies on ongoing repeat sales of a product or service, 80% of our income will often come from 20% of our customers. In fact, looking closely at your stats you might find it’s more like 90/10 or even 95/5.
